About Us
Mission
To Engage and Inspire BC Youth through access to Music and Music Education
Mandate
To provide support (be it financial, resource or personnel-based) for existing or planned music education programs within the province of BC, whether they be public, private, schools or community groups. Our core programming consists of the Adopt an Instrument program, the Burt Harris Memorial Scholarship, and Songwriters Of a New Generation. Music BC Charitable Foundation put instruments into the hands of youth, helps pay for tuition/music lessons at a private and post-secondary level, and mentors those that want to pursue songwriting as a craft and tool to build self-esteem and cross-cultural social ties. These valuable programs assist with the development and growth of students in leadership, creative expression and social skills.
History
The Music BC Charitable Foundation was founded in 2005 by members of the Music BC Industry Association in response to challenges faced by public school music programs throughout British Columbia. Our three major initiatives have assisted thousands of students in BC on their musical journeys, including instrument grants to dozens of schools, thousands of dollars of scholarships awarded to individuals and hundreds of hours of after-school songwriter mentoring.
Charitable Status
As a registered charity, Music BC Charitable Foundation can issue tax receipts for monetary donations made to our cause. We hold fundraising events four times yearly, including Gala dinners, auctions, benefits concerts and social media campaigns. We are always seeking donations of either funding, musical instruments in new or good working condition, and other assorted goods. All donations are welcomed and appreciated. Tax receipts are issued where applicable.
If you would like to partner with Music BC Charitable Foundation to co-present a benefit event please email us.
